Adventure

These are trips that I lead or co-lead. Guaranteed fun. Although we look at anything in the natural landscape that strikes our fancy, these trips are mostly for the birds...

CBC 2005

Join me for a Christmas Bird Count. Citizen Science in action. A day with the birds, an evening meal for relaxation and bird-talk. A countdown of the rare, the trends, the interesting, the hot spots. A who's who of birders.... be with the tribe. Just once.

One of the best bay-area locales for reasonably close looks at Rough-legged and Ferruginous Hawks, I highly recommend an a.m. trip to Robinson Rd. and environs, a lunch in Rio Vista, and an afternoon cruising Ryer Island. This is Solano County, USA. Plowed and unplowedagricultural landscapes hosting a variety of Buteos, Falcons, Harriers, and Kites.  I won’t even mention Mt. Plover.

SFBBO / Bay Trail / Arrowhead Marsh

In conjunction with the publication of Birding the BayTrail, I'll be leading a birding walk on one of the featured segments: Your favorite and mine, Arrowhead Marsh. 2-11-06

Nature Conservancy property. Wild and scenic mountains. Something you'd never do if you didn't have a guide. Set the alarm. Make some coffee. Put on some Steppenwolf. We've got a birding adventure to go to.

Texas 2006

4/13-4/23.  this trip has my most enthusiastic two thumbs up. You will never regret a decision to join Steve Shunk in the lower Rio Grande Valley. Spectacular birding. I'll be co-leading, which means: quality birds all day, every day. We hear 'em, we see 'em, we scope 'em, we fall in love with 'em. Last year, Steve broke this up into two legs. If you can't possibly make the whole deal (which is ultra-spectacular), keep tuned for an announcement about 4/19--4/23.
